How do the “little guys” work differently than mainstream media?
This week we sat down with local independent media people Anastasia Chipelski, Kevin Settee and Anna Sigrithur to talk about the responsibilities in producing media, the freedoms independent media has, and what independent media does for fostering community. Anastasia is the managing editor at the Uniter, Kevin Settee is a co-founder of Red Rising Magazine, and Anna is the news director at CKUW 95.9fm. Each explores the role they have in creating media, who they are accountable to, how they stay transparent and what they can do that bigger news or media organizations can’t do. Relationships with the people whose stories we tell become a key part of being an independent media organization.
This is the second last planned episode of Deprogrammed, but the series can go on. Let us know if you’d like to see more of the show!
